Each year we provide several opportunities for our members to give back or participate in our giving efforts
Lloyd F. Hutt Scholarship
For nearly 30 years, we’ve offered an annual scholarship essay contest for high school seniors, honoring the legacy of Lloyd F. Hutt – teacher and founder of LMCU. Winning entries are celebrated and scholarships distributed in a luncheon ceremony.
This year, we raised funds for our communities’ little heroes. Things may look different from what we’re used to, but the need to care for the kids in our communities is as great as ever. LMCU matched the first $15,000 in donations and all together, our staff, members, and community raised $75,000. Thank you to everyone who stepped up!
To celebrate National Reading Month, every March we challenge kids to participate in Max’s Reading Adventure to read five books for their chance to win $100!
My Teacher is... Grant
LMCU was originally founded as the Grand Rapids Teachers Credit Union, so we have a soft spot for education. Every year, LMCU will award twenty-five (25) $1,000 grants to teachers across Michigan and Florida who embody a specific word, like resilience, enthusiasm, or empathy. The word changes every year, but our commitment to education will never waver.
The LMCU Santa Squad delivers holiday cheer in a variety of different ways across the state! Each day brings a new surprise and a way to give back to our communities. Be sure to follow us on social media to keep up with the Santa Squad during December.
