Community Involvement & Events

The partnership between LMCU and the Whitecaps brings with it the opportunity for LMCU to impact the West Michigan community in new ways.

The Ted Rasberry Youth League Give-a-Glove Drive

The Ted Rasberry Youth League will be providing hundreds of kids free baseball and softball experiences, and you can help make sure each kid has a glove of their own.

Donate new or gently used youth-sized baseball or softball gloves when you visit the LMCU Ballpark. Thanks for helping put gloves in the hands of kids who may otherwise not be able to afford it.

About the Ted Rasberry Youth League

In collaboration with the Whitecaps Community Foundation, LMCU supports the YMCA’s Ted Rasberry Youth League. The program provides Grand Rapids area kids free summer baseball and softball experiences, right in their own neighborhoods. The goals of the league include strengthening families, providing positive role models, building character, and distributing healthy meals.

About the Whitecaps and LMCU Ballpark

In spring 2021, LMCU began a 10-year partnership with the West Michigan Whitecaps baseball team, which included the stadium being renamed to LMCU Ballpark. The West Michigan Whitecaps are a Detroit Tigers minor league baseball affiliate that plays out of LMCU Ballpark in Grand Rapids, Michigan. LMCU Ballpark, which is one of the few stadiums owned by its occupying ball club, was built in 1994 and is a cornerstone of the West Michigan community. The ballpark hosts hundreds of events each year, including Whitecaps games, commencement ceremonies, nonprofit fundraisers, and more.
