LMCU Hires Karen Koundourakis as Florida Chief Retail Officer


Lake Michigan Credit Union (“LMCU”) is thrilled to announce the hiring of Karen Koundourakis as Chief Retail Officer for Florida.

Koundourakis is a proven leader with more than 25 years of credit union experience. She graduated from the University of Georgia with a bachelor’s degree in social work. She is also a graduate of the Harvard HBX Process Improvement program, Harvard Business School’s Strategic Leadership program, and the Vanderbilt Owen Graduate School Executive Strategic Leadership Program.

Sara Kemperman, LMCU Senior Vice Present & Chief Operating Officer, looks forward to the impact Koundourakis and this role will bring to LMCU. “We couldn’t be happier to welcome Karen to the team. Her passion for member engagement, community outreach, and financial health and wellness is invaluable as we continue to expand and enhance our product offerings and member experience,” Kemperman said.

Deeply involved in community service, Koundourakis is a member of the Global Women’s Leadership Florida Board, an inaugural team member of Inspire Women’s League, and a regular collaborator with the National Credit Union Foundation and Florida Leagues. She also volunteers her time with various organizations, including the Tampa Plant Museum with her daughter.
