When you join LMCU, your money funds loans for neighbors, your deposit base supports local businesses, and — through programs like the ones below — your membership becomes part of something that shows up in classrooms, children's hospitals, and communities across Michigan and Florida.
Here's how that looks in practice.
Band Together
Every August, LMCU members, staff, and the organization itself come together for one purpose: raising money for pediatric care programs at children's hospitals across Michigan and Florida.
In 2026, the campaign raised a record $110,000 — supporting 18 hospitals, from Helen DeVos Children's Hospital in West Michigan to Johns Hopkins All Children's Hospital in St. Petersburg and St. Joseph's Children's Hospital in Tampa.
Band Together is how members support the hospitals they care about and contribute to the total. The kids who benefit don't know your name. But they're better off because you're here.
Roots in Education Teacher Grant
LMCU was founded by a schoolteacher. Lloyd F. Hutt started a credit union to serve educators, and that origin story still shapes how we show up for schools today.
Each year, we award 25 teacher grants of $1,000 each to extraordinary educators nominated by students, parents, and community members. The nominees don't apply — they get recognized. In 2025, 205 nominees were celebrated. Every one of them an uplifting role model worth naming out loud.

Lloyd F. Hutt Scholarship
Since 1990, the Hutt Scholarship has helped Michigan high school seniors step into their next chapter with something more than a diploma.
Each year, graduating seniors submit an essay answering a question about legacy, purpose, and the future they want to build. In 2025, 1,058 students entered. Twenty walked away with a $2,000 scholarship.
The scholarship is open to members and their families. If you know a senior who could use it, point them toward the Hutt Scholarship page when nominations open.
