How we protect you

The safeguards working behind the scenes to keep your accounts secure.

You're not the only one looking out for your money.

We've built safeguards into every layer of your account: constant monitoring, encryption, and extra checks whenever something doesn't look like you.

We keep an eye on your account activity around the clock. If something doesn't look like your normal spending, we'll flag it, and we may give you a call to make sure it's really you. Can't reach you? We might place a temporary hold on your online activity until we can confirm it's you and not someone else. If that happens, call us back and we'll get you going again. If you suspect fraud, or think your account information's been compromised, call us right away at (800) 242-9790.

Skip the password, not the security. Sign in with biometric login: Face ID, Touch ID, or Android fingerprint and facial recognition, all backed by the same encryption, firewalls, session timeouts and traffic monitoring working behind the scenes. Have a question about your account? Our secure message center in Online Banking and the LMCU mobile app keeps that conversation private, or send us a secure message directly through our website.

First time signing in, or something unusual about your login or account activity? We'll run an extra validation check, like a mobile app notification or a one-time code, just to confirm it's really you. It protects your accounts now and helps us recognize your device the next time you're back.

How you pay matters

With an LMCU credit or debit card, you can dispute a transaction, freeze the card, and get a replacement fast. Other payment methods work more like cash: once the money's gone, it's usually gone for good. Knowing the difference before you send it is half the battle.

Treat all of these methods like you would handing cash to someone: wires and money transfers, checks and cashier's checks, cryptocurrency, and payment apps like Zelle, Venmo, or Paypal.

Ask yourself:

  • Is this legitimate?
  • Do I know and trust who I'm paying?
  • Is it really who I think it is?
  • Can I get my money back?
