Who we are
At LMCU, we're dedicated to making a positive impact in the communities we serve through donations, sponsorships, and volunteerism. As an organization, we focus the majority of our community engagement efforts on ensuring equitable access for all to learn and succeed, obtain health-related services, and follow a path to homeownership or other affordable housing options.
Impact
Community outreach has been embedded in our culture since we opened our doors in 1933. Whether through volunteerism, philanthropy, sponsorships, or other forms of community engagement, it has been important to be a catalyst for change and growth in the communities we serve. We are proud of our commitment to giving back and the impact our employees make in their communities. View our yearly Community Impact Report at the link below to learn more.
Volunteerism
From tellers to mortgage loan officers, each LMCU team member receives a paid day off to volunteer in their local community each year. Our employee efforts have contributed to thousands of volunteer hours served and an impact that spans even further.
Roots in Education
LMCU was originally founded as the Grand Rapids Teachers Credit Union, so we have a soft spot for education. Each year, we award 25 teachers a $1,000 grant for showcasing their unique superpower whether it's humor, inspiration, empathy, or something else and using it to make a difference in their students' lives.
Nominations are now closed, and our judges are reviewing applications. Check back in May to see the list of grant recipients.
Our Outreach
We provide opportunities throughout the year for our members to give back or participate in our giving efforts.
